Safeguarding Policy

Latitude HR is committed to promoting safe, respectful and supportive environments for all clients, participants and partners. Although we work primarily with adults in professional contexts and do not provide regulated activities, we recognise our responsibility to uphold high standards of safeguarding practice and to act appropriately if concerns arise.

This statement outlines our approach to safeguarding and the steps we take to ensure the wellbeing of individuals we work with.

Scope of Safeguarding

Safeguarding within Latitude HR includes:

  • Protecting adults from harm, abuse, exploitation or neglect.
  • Promoting safe and respectful learning, coaching and development environments.
  • Ensuring professional boundaries are maintained at all times.
  • Responding appropriately to concerns about an individual’s safety or wellbeing.
  • Signposting individuals to appropriate support services when needed.

We do not work directly with children or provide services that fall under regulated safeguarding activity.

Commitment to Safe Practice

We are committed to:

  • Treating all individuals with dignity, respect and fairness.
  • Creating psychologically safe environments in coaching, facilitation and development sessions.
  • Ensuring confidentiality is maintained except where there is a safeguarding concern.
  • Challenging inappropriate, harmful or discriminatory behaviour.
  • Acting promptly and proportionately if I believe someone may be at risk.

Safeguarding is embedded in my values‑led approach to leadership development, organisational change and HR consultancy.

Professional Boundaries and Conduct

To ensure safe and ethical practice we:

  • Maintain clear professional boundaries in all coaching, facilitation and consultancy work.
  • Avoid situations that could lead to conflicts of interest or misuse of power.
  • Ensure that reflective or developmental conversations do not cross into therapeutic or clinical territory.
  • Use supervision, peer support and professional networks to maintain high standards of practice.

Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises we will:

  • Listen carefully and respond with empathy and professionalism.
  • Assess whether the concern indicates risk of harm, abuse or neglect.
  • Explain clearly when confidentiality cannot be maintained.
  • Share information only when necessary and with the appropriate authorities or organisational safeguarding leads.
  • Record concerns proportionately and securely.
  • Signpost individuals to relevant support services where appropriate.

In emergency situations, we will contact emergency services immediately.

Working With Client Organisations

When delivering services within organisations we:

  • Follow the organisation’s safeguarding policies and reporting procedures.
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities and escalation routes at the outset of any engagement.
  • Ensure participants understand the boundaries of confidentiality in coaching or development sessions.
  • Raise concerns promptly with the designated safeguarding lead or appropriate manager.

Training and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to maintaining up‑to‑date safeguarding knowledge through:

  • Regular review of legislation, guidance and best practice.
  • Professional development relevant to coaching, facilitation and HR practice.
  • Annual review of this safeguarding statement.
